Scented Play Dough

I am off today for the Mother Earth News Fair in Belton, Texas. I will be giving talks and running a "Hands on" workshop and also mixing up batches of Scented Play Dough with kids of all ages. This is one of my favorite recipes to share - it is fun, relaxing and smells so good. You can safely make it for the kids but honestly everyone loves playing with it and it is a good relaxing activity.

Here is the basic recipe but have fun making it your own. I got this beautiful pink color by using Hibiscus tea in place of the water called for.

Scented Play Dough

1 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

1 cup water or herbal tea

1 tablespoon sunflower oil

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

2-3 drops essential oil (optional)

2 Tablespoons scented herb leaves and power petals

Mix together the flour, salt, oil, and cream of tartar in a saucepan. Gently heat until it begins to bubble. Remove the pan and stir in scented oil and herb leaves and petals. Place the dough on a lightly floured board and knead until smooth. Store in an airtight container.

Yield: 8 ounces

Enjoy!!!

xoxo Janice
